“My mission is to enable impact investors and social enterprises to measure, manage and communicate their impact… with confidence.”

My Story

I work with investors and impact-led ventures towards deepening their work of enabling entrepreneurship and investments. I aim at facilitating access to resources and opportunities for the under-served population, through greater private investment, entrepreneurship and innovation.

I have 15+ years of full-time work experience in Investment Research, Strategy Consulting, Policy-making and Project Feasibility Assessment. This is spread across diverse sets of industries in the impact-driven domains. Most of my work has revolved around solving clients’ problems through creating knowledge and frameworks. This includes public finance, financial inclusion, water, waste management, sanitation etc. My work has been acknowledged with several awards and recognition across my stints.

My work has taken me to the smallest Indian cities, fancy corporate offices, oldest slums, government schools and powerful government offices. I have interacted with growing SMEs, committed bureaucrats, knowledgeable economists and financing experts to relentless development sector leaders (including politicians).

I believe that it is this variety of experiences that help me learn about my client’s context meaningfully and bring relevant expertise and frameworks to the table…

Education and
Certifications

Studying Urban Planning was my introduction to the development sector, its challenges and complex equations between policy, public finance, private investments and their impact on stakeholder’s living conditions and experiences. Thereafter, completing an MBA with the brightest minds from across the country helped me gain diverse perspectives and business skills.

I am a passionate learner...

In 2019, joining a 10-month Executive Program in Social Impact Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, opened my eyes to social entrepreneurship, impact investing and impact measurement. I continued building my skills during the pandemic by completing my certificate program in Foundations in Responsible Investment by UN-PRI Academy UK and short online courses in Measuring Sustainable Development by UN-SDSN and Impact Measurement and Management for the SDGs by Duke University, USA. I have recently joined the first graduate cohort of Women on Boards program by ISDM, Dasra and Governance Matters.

I bring all of this learning to each of my projects and training courses to keep them relevant.

Independent Consulting Assignments and Pro-bono Work

I look forward to working with high-energy teams, offering my time and skills as an extended team member while seeing every project as an immense opportunity to learn and make friends…

I am currently working as an Independent Consultant with highly regarded national and international institutions, offering consulting services. My focus is in the areas of Impact Measurement and Management for Funds and Impact Entrepreneurship platforms. I regularly have rapid discussion sessions with upcoming impact-focused funds towards building their IMM policies and measurement systems.

I work actively in private sector investments research space for select sectors, including water, wastewater and faecal sludge management.

On weekends, I work as a mentor for social Incubators and entrepreneurs and teach Impact Measurement and Management as a guest faculty.

Testimonial

Swati, is involved as a mentor and faculty with ‘Shakti – The Empathy Project (STEP)’. She is very deeply involved in the process of mentoring. Her empathetic attitude towards the mentee makes the whole experience very unique. Given her background in impact investment, she also led capacity building sessions on designing and implementing impact measurement frameworks for the entrepreneurs. Her insights were practical and valuable.

Renu Shah, Founder at Shakti - The Empathy Project

“In its simplest terms, impact is the measure of an action’s benefit to people and the planet. It goes beyond minimizing harmful outcomes to actively creating good ones by creating positive impact. It has social and environmental dimensions.”
